Organizations endorse Hicks because he will be a strong voice for equality and working people when elected

JACKSONVILLE, FL – LGBTQ Victory Fund and the North Florida Central Labor Council AFL-CIO have endorsed Joshua Hicks for the Florida House of Representatives, District 11.

LGBTQ Victory Fund is the only national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ people to public office. The endorsement signals Victory Fund’s confidence that Hicks, who would be the first openly gay state legislator from Northeast Florida, is well-positioned to win and will be a strong voice for equality once elected. Victory Fund will promote Hicks’s endorsement among its hundreds of thousands of supporters nationwide.

The North Florida Central Labor Council (NFCLC) represents the AFL-CIO and its members in the First Coast community. This endorsement shows their belief that Hicks will promote the future of working men and women in Florida on such issues as wages, education, job safety and security, and dignity in the workplace. The NFCLC will include Hicks on its voting “palm card” for all union members.

Joshua Hicks, the Democratic nominee for the Florida House of Representatives, District 11, issued the following statement:

“This campaign started strong and our momentum continues. I am honored to be endorsed by LGBTQ Victory Fund and the North Florida Central Labor Council. Both organizations know that I will be a strong advocate for equality, social justice, and economic justice. They also know we are building a competitive campaign with the resources needed to deliver my people-first message to voters throughout Florida’s 11th District.”

After announcing his campaign on May 11, Hicks raised more than $18,000 in the first few weeks of the race. He was also recently endorsed by the Democratic Environmental Caucus of Florida, Florida LGBTQ+ Democratic Caucus, and 90 for 90.
