JACKSONVILLE, FL – Joshua Hicks raised $17,594.47 from August 22 – September 4, continuing his competitive challenge to State Representative Cord Byrd. The Hicks campaign received 178 donations during this time.
To date, the campaign has raised $68,011.98 from 1,021 donations with $49,523.03 cash on hand. There is a stark contrast in fundraising sources. While Hicks has grassroots support and an average contribution of $61 prior to this reporting period, Byrd has an average contribution of $713 with funding from Florida’s largest corporate special interests.
Democratic candidate Joshua Hicks issued the following statement:
“I couldn’t be more grateful for the community support our campaign continues to receive. For far too long, our current representative has placed his political career, party, and powerful corporate interests in front of people. But our growing momentum and widespread support show that the First Coast community is ready for new leadership. This campaign is about placing people first, by focusing on the kitchen table issues impacting families across our community, and that’s exactly what I will do in Tallahassee.”
