For those who do not know me, I’m Joshua Hicks and I’m running for Florida State House, District 11 against Cord Byrd. And I’m asking for you to give me a chance.

Our First Coast community is full of vibrant people, beaches, culture, small businesses, and a sense of pride in our community. It really is paradise. And it’s a paradise that’s struggling because of a pandemic and because our needs as a local community aren’t being met by our elected leaders in Tallahassee.

I come from a North Florida family of small business owners, and I’ve dedicated my career to giving back to the community through the non-profit sector, always working to give a voice to the voiceless. I’m committed to representing every person in the district, no matter who you are or what political party you belong to. And I mean that: coming from a family of mostly Republicans, I understand the importance of listening to other viewpoints to find common ground. This campaign is about one thing: bringing our community together to dig ourselves out of a difficult health and economic crisis. I believe the politics of division must end, and the problem solving must begin. Working together is the only way we will solve our challenges.

Here is my commitment to you: I will listen to everyone in District 11, no matter what their political affiliation is. I will always be accessible, present, and transparent because my priority will be lifting up our families and strengthening our local community here on the First Coast. As a state representative, my job will be to go to work addressing your needs and to always be available to listen and learn.

I’m asking you to elect new leadership in District 11. Someone who will place our families first, not their own political ambitions. Someone who will always be available in times of need and who will have an open door for any person who needs help.

This November 3rd, or if you vote early, I would be honored to earn your vote.
